Ms. Chee Jin Mieh & Ms. Chee Jim Sim vs Mr. Chee Jin Kiong, Mr. Chee Jin San, and Mr. Derrick Chee Jin Hoe (HCS/S 6/2016)
As a Special Accountant, Mr. Elango collaborated with Philip Jeyaretnam SC of Dentons Rodyk on behalf of the Plaintiff to investigate the directors' remuneration, fees, bonuses, and benefits withdrawn from four companies namely Toho Investments (Private) Limited, Aik Hwa Trading Company (Private) Limited, Aik Hwa Development (Pte) Ltd, and Hwa Seng & Co. Pte Ltd—between 1996 and 2015, where the Defendants, also the estate executors, were directors.
Our findings, accepted by the court, were integral to UVH v UVJ [2019] SGHCF 14 and UVJ v UVH [2020] 2 SLR 336, establishing breaches of fiduciary duties related to undisclosed estate asset withdrawals.
