After reviewing the accounting system, a full-time accountant was appointed and then the accontant conducted a thorough analysis based on properly maintained accounts.
This enabled us to pinpoint the root cause of the company's challenges within the sales department, ultimately linking the issue to leadership shortcomings. We recommended a leadership change, which led to a significant turnaround in performance. This case highlights how well-structured financial records can help to identify business problems and provide management with actionable solutions.

Scrap Metal Exporters
We did a corporate restructuring for our client with a recycling and exporting business specializing in vehicle parts. Our works included securing bank facilities by structuring financial proposals, transitioning financial reporting from external to in-house for better control and cost efficiency, and resolving licensing challenges when the company constructed a new factory.
We also assisted in obtaining government approvals and addressing operational disputes although some of which were settled in court. For ensuring seamless financial oversight, we also appointed a professional accountant to manage the accounting system in respect of enabling the delegation of data entry, financial analysis, and monitoring responsibilities.

-
Spice Importers & Exporters
We spearheaded a corporate restructuring initiative by modernizing the company's financial reporting framework.
Prior to our engagement, financial records were maintained manually with limited real-time insights beyond a daily cash book and basic payables and receivables tracking. After identification of this inefficiency, we led the transition to a fully computerized accounting system by initially managing data entry as an outsourced company and subsequently training the in-house accounting staff to take over our accounting jobs.
This transformation enabled a shift from historical cash-based tracking to real-time financial insights for providing our client with instant access to critical financial data. By integrating technology-driven financial oversight, we strengthened the company’s operational infrastructure.
-
Japanese Restaurant
In 1994, we performed the corporate restructuring of a Japanese-owned restaurant business via identifying numerous operational challenges, including purchasing inefficiencies, pricing strategies, and location constraints. Our intervention involved the implementation of a robust accounting system to optimize financial management, the introduction of an innovative rent structure with a combination of a minimum base rent plus a turnover-based component, and the enhancement of operational efficiency through close collaboration with the restaurant’s culinary team.
To strengthen management across three outlets at various locations namely Jurong East, Orchard Road, and Johor Malaysia, we implemented a structured performance monitoring system and appointed a manager for oversight. Due to ongoing challenges at the outlet in Johor, a dedicated restaurant manager was assigned to optimize operations and profitability. While 2 outlets at the locations namely Jurong East and Johor were eventually improved, Orchard Road struggled with high rental costs.
Through a comprehensive value chain analysis, we pinpointed inefficiencies in an underperforming outlet and successfully executed a turnaround strategy. Our engagement was strategically designed to stabilize operations and drive sustainable business growth.

F&B Outlets
We conducted a corporate restructuring for our client who has managed a family-owned business established in 1997, to enhance its operations and financial management. Our works included streamlining the employment process for foreign hires, implementing a structured accounting system, and introducing fusion cuisine to differentiate the brand.
We repositioned their three outlets via maintaining Dunlop Street to a low-end restaurant, transforming Syed Alwi Road to a mid-range restaurant, upgrading Race Course Road to a high-end dining experience.
This restructuring plan strengthened the brand’s market presence and eventually enabled successful franchise expansion to locations like Mount Faber, Yishun Town Square, and Changi. Additionally, we also provided tax, accounting, and manpower advisory services, including payroll automation, before concluding our engagement in 2017.

Additionally, we streamlined payroll, cash flow and business operations apart from supporting loan arrangements and foreign manpower applications. As part of strategic planning, we advised on food concepts and restaurant layout to enhance customer appeal. Our engagement started with intensive advisory services before transitioning to periodic accounting and business support.
We also addressed labour-related issues with the Ministry of Manpower in collaboration with legal counsel. Our services were ended between the year 2017 and 2018 after stabilizing the business financially and operationally.
